On Sunday morning, two people were shot; one died at the scene and the other was taken to the hospital. The suspect has been taken into custody, according to the Spokane Police Department (SPD).
According to the Spokane Police Department, at around 1 a.m., police responded to an apartment complex on east Wedgewood Ave. in north Spokane and found two victims shot at the scene. One was taken to the hospital, but sadly the other one didn’t make it.
The Major Crimes Unit (MCU) of the SPD has begun its investigation into this case. Investigators tracked down the man on east Upriver Dr. on Sunday afternoon. Before 2 o’clock, the suspect was peacefully apprehended with the help of SWAT and the Violent Crimes Task Force.
The 16-year-old suspect is facing second-degree murder and first-degree assault charges. We have eliminated all other possibilities and are not actively searching for any other suspects. It’s possible that further charges will be filed at a later date as the investigation continues.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will announce the victim’s identification at a later time.
