On Saturday morning in Koyyur Malebettu, close to Belthangady, a private school bus allegedly collided with a mini tempo, killing the driver, who was 50 years old, and injuring two other passengers.
Police in Belthangady identified the victim as 50-year-old Razak. Haneef (aged 48) and K. Mohammed (aged 57) were identified as the two victims.
The authorities said the trio was taking the tempo from Belthangady to Koyyur to transport scrap metal. The pace was set by Razak. The speed of the school bus travelling from Koyyur to Ujire was significantly increased when it rounded a corner.
The police said that Razak died at the scene and Haneef and Mohammed are being treated at a private hospital.
