A man from Cornwall dies after jumping off the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge

TOWN OF NEWBURGH –

Authorities said a 23-year-old man was murdered after driving onto a bridge over the Hudson Valley, getting out, and jumping.

On Sunday, October 2, about 9:30 am, the event happened near the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge in the town of Newburgh.

The Orange County guy, who lived in Cornwall, got out of his car in the eastbound lane of the bridge and leapt off the right shoulder, according to New York State Police.

Trooper Steven Nevel said that he was found deceased in a grassy area below the bridge.

The man’s identity has not yet been made public.

The Town of Newburgh Police provided assistance to the New York State Police.
